LiveScience reported yesterday that a recent study has shown the disappearance of white tailed jack rabbits in Yellowstone National Park. There is no reason cited for the disappearance of the rabbits. The rabbits are a vital part of the ecosystem and their absence will certainly impact other species in the region.

You think this could go up on disapproving rabbits?
“I disapprove of vanishing”
Hello, I Googled the story and stumbled upon your blog… and I thought I might share another side of the story….
On February 15, 2008, The Billings Gazette, along with the Idaho Statesman, and the Casper Star Tribune as well as many other new outlets published this story:
http://www.trib.com/articles/2008/02/15/news/wyoming/b91a1d6a76693946872573f00006bdcb.txt
However, on February 20, 2008, the Billings Gazette published this story, a rebuttal which was written by Yellowstone’s top ecologist, who claims the scientists who made the initial claims are wrong.

Jack rabbits are adorable, although I’ve never seen one in the flesh.
I like the rabbit but it is too big.I mean look at it I would not have a lot of food with it in my house. It is very cute though.
HI,
Here in WY they also are vanishing…from so many car hitting them.
We must see 4-5 everyday in winter hit.
Eagle and magpies do well. But it is sad to see such beautiful creatures daed because of man.
